Program Representative 1 (Spanish Interpreter/Family Support Specialist)

Position Summary

Early Childhood CARES is seeking a Spanish Interpreter/ Family Support Specialist to act as a linguistic and cultural liaison with the Spanish-speaking families of children ages 0-5 with developmental delays or disabilities served by the program.

The position provides interpretation and translation, facilitates outreach to Spanish-speaking families, and ensures high quality relationships between Early Childhood CARES and the families it serves. The Spanish Client Services Representative is the agency's primary contact for services to Spanish-speaking families. The position serves as a cultural broker to engage parents, help them understand and access Early Childhood CARES services and other relevant programs and community resources, and facilitate effective collaboration between parents and Early Childhood CARES service providers.

The position provides translation of reports, progress notes, Individualized Family Service Plans, flyers, handouts, and other documents designed to inform parents; edits and proofreads agency materials to accurately reflect language; performs as interpreter at meetings, agency trainings and provision of early intervention and early childhood special education services; and facilitates and organizes parent events for Spanish-speaking families to increase family/caregiver involvement.

The Spanish Client Services Representative is responsible for scheduling, administering, scoring, and interpreting developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5 for Spanish-speaking families referred to Early Childhood CARES. The Representative will make informed decisions about a child's need for an evaluation by synthesizing referral and screening information, parent report, and developmental history.

Providing culturally sensitive support, the Spanish Client Services Representative will work to increase the quality of the relationship between Early Childhood CARES and the families it serves to improve access to services and ultimately achieve improved outcomes for children with developmental delays and disabilities in Lane County.
