All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. Qualified Candidate will work in providing community outreach and education to people from a variety of backgrounds. Position may require non-traditional works hours. 

Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with health specialists and civic groups to ascertain community health needs, determine availability of services, and to develop goals.  Maintains a working partnership between public, civic, professional and voluntary agencies
  • Develops and conducts community surveys to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services
  • Prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials to the community.  Provides education opportunity for health personnel.
  • Promotes health discussion in school, industry and community agencies.
  • Works with the district Public Information Officer in responding to media inquires, providing the information to the public regarding health concerns, resources and updating information on electronic  media platforms 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
