Sales Compensation Analyst – Financial Analyst II

The Distribution Finance team is responsible for the financial health of NLG’s life and annuity sales– providing financial leadership through insights and recommendations, monitoring trends and driving National Life Group to be a culture of fact-based decision makers.  This position is a multi-faceted project and operational support position that includes responsibilities which focus on National Life’s selling customers. To provide an outstanding experience to our customers, it is critical that we have timely, accurate, and impactful insights and analysis. We are seeking an analyst to generate and deliver value that will drive improvements, and enable smart decision making, focusing on incentives in a pay for performance environment. In this role you will work with a broad set of data sources, analytical tools and visualization software to help the business solve real problems and drive desired results.

A successful candidate will display strong analytical as well as interpersonal skills, and a deep interest in understanding our business.  The ability to develop strong relationships with our internal and external customers, fully understanding their needs, and using data to drive business impact will be paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modeling and computation of Distribution incentive and compensation programs
  • Analysis and implementation of enhancements to incentive programs and compensation structures, capitalizing on behavioral drivers and achieving Distribution goals
  • Partnering with Distribution to establish and maintain strong relationships with business leaders to understand their focus and related incentives. Develop a ‘thinking partner’ relationship with them in achieving Distribution goals, bringing modeling, data, and analysis to recommend and illuminate their decision-making
  • Develop and maintain incentive forecasting and program effectiveness tools to assist in the evaluation of Distribution financial health and expense management
  • Build cross-functional partnerships and collaborate with other business units throughout the organization to maintain financial consistency and awareness

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong financial and analytical background, with the desire to think critically
  • Exceptional data organizational skills, including proficiency in excel
  • Caring curiosity, demonstrated in proactive & reactive solutioning, asking questions, learning this business, knowledge building connected to the outcome and the impact on others
  • Acting with urgency in performance, execution, decisioning, and responsiveness
  • Focus on quality, with the eagerness to improve and implement business processes for efficiency and control strength
  • A customer service mindset with excellent communication skills, the ability to influence at all levels, and a talent for conveying complex findings in a clear and actionable way

  • Xactly Incent experience preferred


The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.  National Life offers a competitive total rewards package which includes: a 401(k) retirement plan match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a company funded wellness account for director and below employees; 10 paid holidays; a generous paid time off plan (22 days of combined time-off for non-exempt employees and exempt employees have discretion in managing their time, including scheduling time off in the normal course of business, but in no event will exempt employees receive less sick time than required by state or local law); 6 weeks of paid parental leave; and 6 weeks of paid family leave after a year of full-time employment.
