Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Senior Director, Direct Response.

The Senior Director, Direct Response will be responsible for managing all strategy and execution for Operation Homefront’s direct response program. This includes responsibility for all aspects of the contract with the direct response vendor, including the successful oversight of $3.9M in expenditures. The Senior Director, Direct Response will be expected to achieve all budgeted revenue goals for the program ($5.3M in 2025) and, in partnership with the vendor and the Chief Revenue Officer, develop and execute on a fundraising strategy that will increase the ROI of the program year over year, producing growth in unrestricted giving for the mission. Also required is the successfully management and supervision of the Manager, Direct Response and the partnership with the Vice President, Individual Giving in creating a strategic bridge between the Direct Response and Individual Giving strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Must live in the United States. Preference given to candidates who live near or in San Antonio, Dallas, McLean, San Diego, or Tampa.
  • At least five years’ experience with multi-channel direct response fundraising, preferably to include working with an outside vendor.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Every Action or similar CRM software.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team as well as work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Acceptable MVR (annual).
  • Criminal background check.
  • Passion for Operation Homefront’s mission.

Specific Duties:

  • Design and implement a multi-channel direct response strategy in partnership with the contracted vendor that meets or exceeds the annual budgeted revenue goal.
  • Develop the annual budget for the direct response program and provide financial justification to the Chief Revenue Officer.
  • Manage the annual expense budget with a keen focus on ROI and acceptable CPDR metrics.
  • Set annual performance metrics for each element of the direct response program; renewal, acquisition, sustainers, lapsed reactivation, retention and upgrades.
  • Acts as Operation Homefront’s direct response subject matter expert by keeping abreast of industry best practices, identifying new test ideas and validating program metrics.
  • Bring new ideas to the program that drive diversification (especially in digital platforms) and ensure Operation Homefront stays ahead of trends and always on the cutting edge of the ever-changing revenue stream.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Individual Giving to integrate the Direct Response strategy and the Individual Giving strategy so that both support each other and enhance each programs’ unique revenue and performance goals.
  • Establish annual priorities that align with organizational goals, identifies resource needs and manages execution.
  • Partner with the OH Marketing Team to ensure the OH brand is unified and strong in all direct response efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, performance requirements and data standards.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Supervise and provide support for the Manager, Direct Response.
     
     

Other Details:

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 10 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events to include overnight travel. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
