Home to NASCAR’s Championship Weekend, Phoenix Raceway has been the premier motorsports venue in the Southwest since 1964 and hosts two NASCAR race weekends each year. In March, the Ruoff Mortgage 500 NASCAR Weekend kicks off the race season at Phoenix Raceway, featuring the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series. In November, champions will be crowned in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series West. Phoenix Raceway also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including corporate meetings and conferences, charity events, holiday events, sport and endurance competitions, driving schools and Segway tours.

The Senior Director, Track Marketing role is involved in the development and execution of promotional plans to increase awareness, maximize ticket sales, and support a best-in-class guest experience at [Track Location], a NASCAR-owned track. This role works closely with Track Leadership and central functions as the local market expert delivering marketing plans to advance the growth of tracks and NASCAR events. 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee marketing engagement strategy and plans to reinforce relevance of NASCAR tracks in local markets, and support ticket sales goals. 
  • Partner with central marketing, communications, community engagement and content teams to deliver integrated marketing plans that drive business results. 
  • Collaborate with central marketing team to plan, manage and execute driver and team event promotion plans inclusive of in-market events and track appearances for an enhanced fan experience.  
  • Oversee marketing plans for non-NASCAR events e.g., concerts, festivals, other sporting events.  
  • Lead new fan development strategies and plans for local markets through partnerships, community outreach and in-market activations. 
  • Support operations team to enhance event experience and develop weekend content and programming. 
  • Lead planning, management and execution of local promotional plans which is inclusive of local media, partnerships, and influencer budgets across tracks. 
  • Initiate marketing and promotional event plan documents while working with and ensuring accountability of regional and central functions for delivering critical deliverables of integrated plans.   
  • Partner with, and support the Event Experience team, leading up to, and throughout events. 
  • Partner with Research & Insights team to continue delivering actionable insights for positioning, messaging, targeting and measurement plans in the market.  
  • Inform, influence and advocate during the annual business planning process in support of both track and company priorities. 
  • Develop local, grassroots marketing and activation plans to drive awareness of NASCAR and other events.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel: 20% including some weekends


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of eight years related experience and/or training in sports, entertainment event marketing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communicates with energy and positivity to motivate, influence, and inspire commitment and action
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.  Bi-lingual verbal and written proficiency a plus.
  • Ability to write and prepare presentations for internal and external audiences. Effective at giving persuasive presentations on complex topics to senior management, industry audiences. 
  • Aptitude for leading change in a complex industry.
  • Focused follow-through with a high-level of accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and passion for marketing with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement immediate corrective action.
  • Ability to create and champion a vision.
  • Experience and ability in maintaining and developing employees by interviewing, hiring, and training. Coaching, providing guidance, developing and/or disciplining employees, as necessary. Planning, monitoring and evaluating job performance, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Must possess strong collaboration skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with Track Leadership, internal colleagues, external partners & industry stakeholders, influencers, public affairs contacts, and community & media relations outlets.
  • Ability to create, understand and implement both strategic and financial planning for the department.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Cloud Creative) a plus.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement immediate corrective action.
  • In addition to the normal work schedule, which varies depending on the season, must be able to work extended hours during events, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, use hands to feel and handle, ability to lift 20 pounds and see including close vision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
