SUMMARY

The State and Local Tax (SALT) focused Senior Tax Analyst assists with direct and indirect state and local income tax compliance, tax provision process, state and local tax matters and notices and ad hoc projects as needed within the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

  • Provide a high degree of service to our physician partners through the annual K-1 tax reporting.
  • Assist in the outsourced state and local tax return compliance process by coordinating with external advisors to ensure timely filing of income tax returns and tax payments in all jurisdictions. Ensure compliance with the various SALT filing requirements.
  • Review state and local tax returns and workpapers for corporations and partnerships prepared by external advisors.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated state and local income tax calculations for corporations and partnerships.
  • Assist with state and local tax extension calculations and related payments.
  • Assist with the tax provision process.
  • Prepare technical tax research for tax compliance, provision, and ad hoc research projects.
  • Prepare well-documented tax workpapers and review those prepared by staff.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing process improvements for the tax department.
  • Work on various tax data automation initiatives via Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (accounting, legal, IT) to obtain information needed for various tax projects.
  • Resolve state and local tax notices.
  • Support other indirect tax functions including sales and use tax and property tax.
  • Assist in governmental tax audits, including gathering information and drafting responses.
  • Research and analyze state and local regulatory developments and determine the impact on the company.
  • Assist in analysis of state and local tax implications of various transactions.
  • Provide support for other tax department special projects and processes as needed, including federal tax.
