Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Sound Engineer with expertise in multiple facets of sound engineering for film, events, podcasts, and immersive audio experiences. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive skill set, including production sound, sound design, post-production editing, and immersive audio design for events. This position requires both technical mastery and creative intuition to elevate audio content across a variety of media formats. Candidates should be technically curious, actively exploring AI technologies and the opportunities they provide to enhance creativity, efficiency, and innovation in marketing video production.

Key Responsibilities:
Production Sound Engineer:
- Operate sound equipment on film shoots and other creative media projects, ensuring optimal sound quality on set.
- Expertly use shotgun and lavalier microphones for clear, high-quality audio capture.
- Conceal lavalier microphones on talent while minimizing surface noise and maintaining sound clarity.
- Analyze and assess room acoustics to optimize sound recording during film shoots.
- Implement time-code systems, including jam syncing cameras with audio equipment.
- Develop creative strategies for capturing B-roll audio on set.
- Conduct talent interviews for podcasts, ensuring professional-level audio quality.
Sound Designer:
- Create innovative sound designs for films, motion graphics, and other media, tailoring sound to different genres and styles.
- Design immersive background ambiances, creating realistic and imaginative physical spaces.
- Develop both diegetic (in-world) and non-diegetic (out-of-world) sound design to support narrative and thematic elements.
- Design, mix, and master custom sound effects for a personal library.
- Create Foley sounds for film content and motion graphics.
- Produce immersive sound experiences using formats like Quad, Dolby Atmos, and Ambisonics.
Post-Production Editor & Mixer:
- Edit dialogue with precision, utilizing noise reduction tools and building room tone to ensure clear and natural-sounding audio.
- Mix and master audio for media content, ensuring clarity, consistency, and a professional finish.
- Conform audio to new picture edits and collaborate with other departments on sync and content adjustments.
- Provide stereo mixes and stems of each audio component for layback.
- Familiarity with OMF/AAF file structures to streamline workflow between audio and video departments.
- Ensure audio output levels meet standards for Internet, Broadcast, and Event applications.
- Ability to polish final material.
Immersive Sound Designer for Events:
- Provide sound design support for booths and immersive audio experiences at live events.
- Devise creative strategies to implement sound in booth spaces, enhancing visitor experience.
- Collaborate with event teams to produce ambient soundscapes mixed with ambient music.
- Utilize immersive audio formats, including encoding and decoding, to achieve spatially aware sound design.
- Manage sound equipment, including loudspeakers and playback systems, to deliver high-quality audio experiences at events.
Podcast Producer:
- Produce high-quality podcasts, including business-style podcasts, from both live and pre-recorded materials.
- Conduct interviews with talent, ensuring clear, professional audio recordings.
- Edit and mix podcast audio to produce polished and engaging content.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sound Engineer in production, sound design, post-production, immersive sound design, and podcast production.
- Advanced technical knowledge of sound equipment, microphones (shotgun, lavalier), time-code systems, and audio processing tools.
- Expertise in sound design for diverse media formats, with strong creative and technical skills.
- Proficiency with post-production audio tools (Pro Tools, Logic, etc.), including noise reduction and editing software.
- Experience with immersive sound design, including knowledge of spatial audio formats (Quad, Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics).
- Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, or Pro Tools) and content management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with directors, producers, and other departments.
- A portfolio or demo reel showcasing diverse sound work across film, events, and podcasts is required.
Nice to Have:
- Experience repurposing content across multiple formats and platforms, ensuring consistency and maximizing reach.
- Proven ability to create, edit, and produce engaging podcasts, from concept to final product.
- Experience in leading sound or audio production for a global company, with an understanding of the unique challenges and nuances of working across different time zones and cultural contexts.
- Knowledge of best practices for delivering high-quality audio experiences to a global audience.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with current podcasting trends and technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly on set or during live events.
- Experience with sound system setup and calibration for events and immersive installations.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
