The Northeast Health District Babies Can’t Wait (BCW) program is seeking a part-time (hourly) Child Health Educator to work with families with children aged birth to three. This position will maintain a caseload and administer developmental evaluations to determine eligibility for the BCW program.

May work some evenings and weekends. Maintains HIPAA and FERPA standards related to Privacy and Security and provides exceptional customer service.

As a Special Instructor within the Babies Can't Wait Program at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide developmental evaluations and coaching activities with children and families
  • Prepares reports for child’s official record and family.
  • Relates results of evaluation/assessment to a multi-disciplinary team to assist in the development of specialized programming for child/family.
  • This position requires extensive travel throughout the 10-county Health District to conduct homevisits

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and for (4) years of program management experience

OR

Two (2) years of experience required at lower level Education Prgrm Spec 1 (EDP030) or position equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, early childhood special education, special education or other closely related field. Minimum two years of experience providing service to children and families.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in special education and early childhood development

The hourly rate is $35 for candidates with a Bachelor's degree and $40 for those with a Master's degree
