Customer Information and Relationship Management company domain is playing a pivotal role in shaping the organization strategy for handling customer data enterprise wide establishing Customer360 (C360) as a trusted authority in customer data management and creating a single source of truth about customers’ profile data. C360 Platform provides a comprehensive view of the customer's relationships with various American Express products and manages customers demographics and linkages driving intelligent insights for servicing, marketing, risk, fraud, and digital experiences. This platform is an integral part of all enterprise customer journeys and is at the fore front of all the new initiatives the organization is undertaking. In C360, we build and manage highly scalable services using event-driven reactive architecture.
How will you make an impact in this role?
This role of Staff Engineer will be an integral part of C360 engineering team that designs and builds large-scale, cloud-native, event-driven reactive applications to create 360-degree view of the customer. The Staff Engineer will lead a team of senior engineers and solution architects to enable full stack development including Front-end development on Customer360 Portal, Backend development creating APIs / Microservices and data analytical use cases development on BigData ecosystem. The Staff Engineer will form a strong partnership within the team of Engineering Directors, and with the Product Owners, plus own performance management responsibilities for the assigned solution architects.
Key Responsibilities:
- 50% of the time spent on coding and/or hands-on technical implementation
- Work with Staff Architects, Engineering Directors, Solution Architects to define solution requirements and technical implementation approach
- Drive both high-level and detailed technical designs and conduct design reviews as needed
- Provide technical guidance to other software engineers at all levels
- Implement new, highly scalable platform components
- Improve and maintain existing components of the core platform
- Actively participate in team and company-wide architecture and engineering discussions and forums
- Build POCs to experiment new technologies, databases and other application infrastructure.
- Employ technical expertise to help team members overcome technical problems
- Constantly purse and learn industry leading/innovative technologies and solutions. Be acutely aware of enabling technologies and open-source products to build low latency distributed systems.
- Adhere to release/project schedule and sprint milestones
- Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software for use in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related environments
- Responsible for health and quality of the code across the portfolio, including leadership over SCM, functional testing, and CI/CD tool integration
- Lead a culture of innovation and experimentation, engage in fun and outcome-oriented culture, and always be ready to try new concepts without fear of failure.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of active engineering experience in a sophisticated environment and/or comparable experience
- Strong implementation experience using languages like Java or Golang, and experience of Vert.X library is preferred
- Experience in using NoSQL databases, like Couchbase, and distributed messaging systems as Kafka in the context of low latency and high transaction volume systems.
- Experience in data processing applications using BigData tools like Apache Hadoop, Aapche Spark, or using Cloud technologies like BigQuery
- Successful engineering and deployment of enterprise-grade technology assets in an agile product environment
- Ability to share engineering domain expertise with architects and other engineers
- Ability to adapt solutions to meet the broader needs of the portfolio
- Expertise in building fault-tolerant, scalable solutions that are performed at a global enterprise scale
- Full understanding of Service Oriented Architecture design principles and implementation patterns
- Ability to construct enterprise-grade APIs using innovative techniques and standard methodologies (REST, JSON, XML, etc.)
- Proficient in cross-platform integration
- Able to diagnose, resolve, and prevent the recurrence of system outage
- Have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Build and deliver effective presentations to Senior Leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science,Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field required; advanced degree preferred
Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
