
Student Financial Services Support Staff Counselor
JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Financial Services (SFS) Support Staff/Counselor is a highly motivated professional who is responsible for maintaining a knowledge base of federal, state, University, and institutional student aid funding as well as regulations and procedures while providing professional assistance and support to office staff, students and families in an active, fast-paced environment. Organizational skills, as well as demonstrated ability to protect confidential records and communications, to work as part of a team as well as independently with little supervision, are a must. In addition, strong computer and software skills are essential to ensure the timely processing of system operations required to support the Office of Student Financial Services in a professional, efficient, and compliant manner. Evening and weekend hours may be required for this position.

2. Maintain strict confidentiality of all activities in SFS
3. Provide excellent customer service and support to SFS
4. Assure consistent application of office policy & procedure
5. Financial Aid Counseling of prospective and current students and families regarding financial aid options & process
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide a high level of financial aid counseling, including incorporation of Best Practices in SFS Counseling and providing holistic financial aid planning students’ full college careers for traditional day, graduate, and adult undergraduate student populations
2. Respond to all student inquiries from walk-ins, emails, phone, or Teams within a 24-48 hour time frame
3. Assist students and families with FAFSA completion & corrections and with financial aid document resolution
4. Assist students and families with information on financing options, including payment plans, direct payments, and federal and private loan program options
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1. Associate’s Degree preferred
2. One or more years of financial aid or higher education experience preferred
3. Exhibit professionalism and strict confidentiality at all times
4. Excellent customer service, organizational skills, and computer skills
5. Willingness and ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
6. Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging and demanding position
7. Ability and willingness to rotate work schedule between days and evenings
