
Supervisor, Network Design

Where you will work:This position will support the West Coast Design Group. This position may report to one of Astound's West Coast locations. This position has the potential for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

A Day in the Life of the Supervisor, OSP Network Design:
- Actively support, promote and advance all aspects of Astound’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals and initiatives, recognizing it as a business priority, including creating a work environment where all employees feel valued, respected, heard and empowered to do their best work.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and vendors to implement network designs, troubleshoot issues and maintain quality standards
- Design and develop fiber optic network & HFC infrastructure for the Astound West market, ensuring scalability, reliability and cost-efficiency
- Prepare, review and modify design drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Utilize industry standard software (i.e. ArcFM, AutoCAD, GIS tools) for HFC & fiber design documentation
- Create fiber routes, design splicing prints, and work orders for vendors performing splicing work within the active backbone in support of our fiber design and implementation practices.
- Provide fiber assignments to the Construction Team for lateral fibers to last demarc panel if new lateral is required
- Create requisitions for purchase order approval and payment to vendors in compliance with Astound’s cost management guidelines
- Provide Operations/Provisioning with final DLR's & test shots for closeout and review
- Small Cell Designs provided by A&E
- Familiarity with optical test equipment including OTDR, PMD, and Optical Spectrum Analyzer
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and milestones, ensuring adherence to scope and company requirements
- Keep abreast of changes or updates in industry standards, local regulations, and emerging technologies in both fiber optic and HFC infrastructure
- Supervisor the design process for engineering products
- Align engineers, designers, and analysts to ensure a cohesive project experience and a successful implementation
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and communication
- Maintain compliance with Astound engineering standards
- Inspect and approve all design plans from vendor partners and internal partners
- Provide staffing strategies and workflow
- Mentor, motivate and advise current network design team employees to ensure adherence to company policy, standards and procedure.
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide a high level of productivity and team organization.
- Work directly with leadership to continuously improve team performance, embracing industry standards to ensure we take care of our customers and each other.

What You Bring to the Table:
- 5+ years of experience in HFC & fiber optic design or a related telecommunications role
- Strong knowledge and a high level of proficiency in HFC & fiber design software (I.E., AutoCAD, GIS tools, Plex Earth, ArcFM)
- Strong knowledge of HFC & fiber optic installation methods, route planning, and network architecture
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills – ability to translate data to strategy
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft, Google and Adobe office products
- Strong knowledge and a high level of proficiency of the current rules and regulations of OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to lead and mentor other team members to lead a positive and results driven organization.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Education and Certifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $77,968.80 - $115,000 annually, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to California, Washington, and Oregon and may not be applicable to other locations.
