
Training and Compliance Specialist
The Biologic Resources Laboratory seeks an experienced Training and Compliance Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for assisting with the training program for UIC investigative staff that work with animals and the post-approval monitoring program to ensure that procedures are conducted in compliance with approved protocols and institutional policies. In addition, the position will assist in the facility's quality assurance program. The position works collaboratively with veterinary staff and research staff.

The budgeted salary range for this position is: $60,000.00 - 70,000.00 annually
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and conduct facility orientation training for research staff.
- Provide training for research staff on topics including but not limited to animal handling, compound administration techniques, blood or other biological sample collection techniques, anesthesia, aseptic technique, perioperative care and wound closure techniques in rodents.
- Develop and periodically review training materials such as online training courses and hands-on courses.
- Assist with organizing continuing education opportunities for research staff.
- Assist with development, review, and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in preparation of continuing education material for animal care staff and AALAS certification classes.
- Conduct internal auditing procedures as part of the post-approval monitoring program.
- Prepare reports on audit/monitoring findings and communicate concerns with senior veterinary staff.
- Serve as a compliance resource to the research community.
- Provide assistance with facility quality assurance program including testing of sanitization methods and water quality.
- Perform additional support duties assigned by the veterinary staff and participate in special projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required.
- A minimum of 1 year of research experience.
- A minimum of 3 years related experience working with animals in a research setting.
- Knowledge of regulations and guidelines pertaining to the use of laboratory animals.
- Proficient in specific laboratory animal research techniques.
- Experience in providing instruction and training.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
