Vice President of Finance and Operations Services

Fahrenheit Advisors is leading the search for the Vice President of Finance and Operations Services at the University of Lynchburg, located in Lynchburg, VA. Position Summary:

The Vice President of Finance & Operations Services is a key leadership position at the University of Lynchburg reporting directly to the President. This position is responsible for the institution's overall financial health and operational efficiency. This role oversees various departments and functions, ensuring the university's resources are managed effectively to support its mission and strategic goals.

Salary: $170,000-210,000K

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Oversee the university's annual budget development and implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Manage the university's financial resources, including investments, endowments, and cash flow.
• Monitor financial performance and report regularly to the President and Board of Trustees.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Operational Management:

• Oversee the operations of various departments, including facilities management, auxiliary services, human resources, campus safety, and information technology.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure optimal value for the university.
• Lead the development and implementation of capital projects, including new construction and renovations.

Leadership and Collaboration:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Finance and Operations team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and community partners.
• Represent the university on various committees and boards.
   

Risk Management

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework for the university, encompassing operational, financial, reputational, and compliance risks.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across all university departments and functions.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including insurance programs, internal controls, and contingency plans.
• Monitor and report on risk exposures and mitigation efforts to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field and/or at least 8 years of progressive leadership experience in finance and operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Strong understanding of operational management principles and practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
• Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in finance and operations.
