American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payments provider for businesses and corporations of all sizes, with small business being the largest customer segment.

The Global Commercial Services Marketing team (GCSM) is responsible for making business membership essential by creating and delivering world class marketing for our differentiated products and services that drives demand and inspires engaged card members across the customer lifecycle. GCSM markets a breadth of products across charge, lending, co-brand, and corporate cards. It is also offers a range of small business banking and B2B solutions. 

The Vice President, Strategic Marketing Capabilities will be responsible for the leading the marketing technology roadmap for GCSM including managing our Martech transformation, delivering on strategic marketing capabilities, overseeing the tech investment planning process for marketing, and shaping the future Enterprise roadmap. This individual will play a critical role in unlocking long-term growth and operational efficiency through the delivery and enablement of the next generation of marketing technology innovation from pilots to full scale roll-out.This role will be required to work cross-functionally with key stakeholders from across the enterprise include GCSM, Consumer Marketing, GCS Product, EDDS, Marketing Transformation Office and Technology to develop actionable strategies and in-market solutions that drive results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as GCSM lead for Project Flywheel, a multi-year project to uplift our marketing execution processes, to define requirements and change management for GCSM, partnering with key partners as part of broader Enterprise initiative
  • Lead annual technology planning process for marketing to prioritize the critical initiatives that will lead to longer-term profitable growth
  • Manage and optimize existing critical marketing platforms and support any migrations / decommissions through change mgmt. to GCSM
  • Own critical strategic initiatives that drive growth, efficiency and advance our marketing vision across prospect and customer acquisition as well as loyalty
  • Partner with Control Management to ensure that our marketing innovations deliver on the promise to our customers and, where needed, address issues and strengthen controls
  • Ensure that our data infrastructure enables the level of innovation and agility required to accelerate growth

Minimum Qualifications

  • Positive “roll-up your sleeves” attitude, a proactive mentality, and a passion to win required
  • Proven track record in developing & driving large, complex, strategic projects, ideally with large capability builds
  • Strong internal partner management skills with proven ability to influence & negotiate
  • Strategic, analytical, problem-solving mindset; ability to problem solve and make decisions or drive to fast resolution (e.g. brings options & trade-offs to the table to generate decisions)
  • Familiarity and subject matter expertise in digital, marketing, customer centricity, and/or agile ways of working
  • Critical thinker with the ability to continuously evolve marketing strategy based on data and analytics
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • A dynamic and committed people leader with proven track record of building impactful teams and cultures

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
