The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Nutrition and Health Screening Section is recruiting a WIC Research Analyst (Research Analyst 3) that will collect, analyze, summarize, and make accessible qualitative and quantitative data from a large variety of sources to support the State WIC Program and contracted local WIC agencies and partners.
This position provides consultation to all state WIC teams and local agency staff to meet a variety of program needs. This includes working with the WIC Nutrition and Local Services Team to analyze nutrition risk data and local agency performance measures and recommend actions based on findings; working with the WIC Data Team to assure the WIC Management Information System (MIS) data is accessible and usable by both state and local agency staff, and working with the WIC Vendor Team to analyze food price and availability data in developing WIC food package recommendations.

Salary: Monthly Salary: $4,755 - $7,296
*Note: Effective Jan. 1, 2025, the compensation plan for this position will be adjusted to reflect a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 6.55%. The salary listed in this posting does not reflect the COLA

Location:
The majority work of this role may be conducted remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology. There are times that work will need to be conducted onsite at the Portland State Office Building located at 800 NE Oregon Street, Portland, OR 97232.
Work location may be reconsidered based on changing needs of the program.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.
OR
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, AND one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports
Desired Attributes
Experience in the following areas is desirable:
- Experience in creating and maintaining a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity among team members and the people we serve.
- Knowledge of data base operation and management, statistical analysis using SPSS, SAS, or STATA and experience with data visualization software, such as Tableau.
- Skills writing technical reports and creating infographics to assist staff to interpret and apply data.
- Skills in creating relevant literature reviews, analyzing data, interpreting results, designing appropriate data displays, and writing and producing reports and summaries.
- Knowledge of and experience with maternal and child health (MCH) and public health issues.
- Qualitative research experience, including qualitative interviewing skills (e.g. with focus groups).
- Ability to summarize and explain complicated research and data analysis to a lay audience.
- Experience providing direct services to a WIC or MCH population; and knowledge of vulnerable and culturally diverse populations.
