Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Police, the Police Officer 2 serves as first responder, investigator, and law enforcement officer for all NeSCC and TCAT Elizabethton controlled properties. They manage criminal and non-criminal investigations, records, parking, traffic services, safety, and security for the institutions.
Job Duties
• Protect life and property at all NeSCC and TCAT Elizabethton controlled properties.
• Conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations from start to conclusion; Prepare criminal and non- criminal reports for review by college leadership as well as outside agencies.
• Provide a law enforcement response to emergency situations.
• Conduct safety and illness/injury investigations.
• Provide a professional law enforcement response to any emergency situation in accordance with training and applicable federal and state laws.
• Interpret and implement federal law as it pertains to colleges and universities. Interpret and enforce Tennessee state laws and Tennessee Board of Regents and Northeast State Community College policies.
• Apprehend criminal offenders.
• Testify in state-level courts and administrative hearings.
• Conduct regular equipment, facility, and safety checks.
• Enforce parking regulations.
• Monitor parking and provide traffic services.
• Provide escorts to buildings and vehicles as requested by faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Provide vehicle assistance services.
• Perform critical tasks that may include word processing and data entry.
• Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
• Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the chief of police, deputy chief of police, or president.
• Work closely with the TCAT President or designee to ensure that the officers day-to-day assignments are aligned with the TCAT President’s safety and security goals.
Minimum Qualifications

<li>Ability to become Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.) certified per T.C.A. 38-8-107 within 6 months from hire date; or currently P.O.S.T. certified.</li>
<li>Must be physically, morally, and psychologically fit to meet the requirements of a Peace Officer in the state of Tennessee.</li>
<li>Must be willing to work different shifts, holidays, and multiple locations, if needed.

The incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position, which includes quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking, and expansion.KEY JOB ELEMENTS:<ul><li>Provides teaching and instruction as dictated by the needs of the AA Program and assigned by the supervisor or designee:</li></ul><ul><li>Lecturing in areas of clinical and/or professional expertise.</li><li>Providing instruction in laboratory and/or simulation courses.</li><li>Providing academic advising as a Small Group Facilitator, Student Advisor, and facilitating remediation as needed.</li></ul><ul><li>Assists with curriculum development, which includes the design and implementation of the curriculum.</li></ul> <ul><li>Assists with ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement.</li></ul> <ul><li>Performs student evaluations of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), lab practicals, as well as clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and technical skills sessions. </li></ul> <ul><li>Evaluates student performance of submitted assignments, including written clinical documentation and evidence-based medicine research.</li></ul> <ul><li>Creates examinations for courses and maps exam questions to ARC-AA accreditation standards and the NCCAA Content Blueprint.</li></ul> <ul><li>Provides input to assist with accreditation activities, as well as ongoing program evaluation and mission statement review. Attends Program Advisory Committee meetings.</li></ul> <ul><li>Participates in the program's admissions process to include student recruitment, student evaluation (through application review and candidate interviews), and student selection meetings.</li></ul> <ul><li>Engages in service, community and campus relations, and scholarly activities appropriate to the role of a Faculty (Part-time) member.</li></ul> <ul><li>Participates in faculty development opportunities each year as required in the areas of teaching and academic administration.</li></ul> <ul><li>Assists with clinical site development and clinical site monitoring.</li></ul> <ul><li>Assists with other responsibilities as determined by the Program Director and/or the Campus Dean of Academic Affairs.</li></ul> <ul><li>Performs duties as assigned and outlined in the faculty job description and in accordance with the provisions of Faculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook.</li></ul>Job Requirements:<ul><li>Terminal Degree as an Anesthesiologist Assistant, current NCCAA Certification, and eligibility for state licensure as an AA required.&nbsp;</li><li>3 years clinical experience preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience in AA/medical classroom teaching preferred.&nbsp;</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.&nbsp; </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.</li><li>Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, ExamSoft.</li></ul><ul></ul>ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
